Terms of Service

Last updated: March 27, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using specsy.io ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Platform. These terms apply to all visitors, buyers, and creators on specsy.

2. What specsy Is

specsy is a marketplace where independent creators ("Creators") sell digital specification files ("Specs") to buyers ("Buyers"). Specs are markdown documents that provide step-by-step instructions for building software applications using Claude Code or similar AI coding tools.

specsy acts as a marketplace intermediary. We are not a party to transactions between Creators and Buyers beyond facilitating payment and delivery.

3. Digital Products: No Refund Policy

All sales are final. Due to the digital and immediately downloadable nature of Specs, we do not offer refunds once a purchase has been completed and the Spec file has been delivered.

Before purchasing, Buyers are encouraged to:

  • Review the "Look Inside" preview available on every listing
  • Read the difficulty level, estimated build time, and prerequisites
  • Check any available reviews from previous buyers
  • Contact us at hello@specsy.io with questions before purchasing

In exceptional circumstances (e.g. a Spec file is corrupted or not delivered), please contact us and we will review on a case-by-case basis.

4. Service Provided As-Is

specsy and all Specs available on the Platform are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • No warranty that any Spec will produce a working application in your specific environment
  • No warranty that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components
  • No warranty that the results obtained from using a Spec will meet your requirements or expectations
  • No warranty that the AI tool you use (e.g. Claude Code) will interpret any Spec as intended

Technology environments vary significantly. Build outcomes depend on your system configuration, the version of AI tools used, third-party services, and your own technical setup.

5. Verification Programme

All Specs published on specsy pass automated security scanning and manual review before being listed. However, this verification process indicates that we have made reasonable efforts to identify harmful content. It does not constitute a guarantee that a Spec is free from all security risks or that the resulting application will be secure.

Buyers are responsible for reviewing Spec content before executing it and for maintaining appropriate security practices on their own systems.

6. Creator Terms

If you sell Specs on specsy as a Creator, you additionally agree to:

  • Only submit original work that you own or have the right to sell
  • Not submit Specs that contain malicious code, instructions to cause harm, or content that violates applicable law
  • Accurately represent the difficulty, build time, and requirements of your Spec
  • Accept that specsy retains a 20% platform fee on each sale, with 80% paid to you via Stripe Connect
  • Accept that specsy may reject or remove any Spec at our discretion without obligation to explain
  • Be responsible for any tax obligations arising from your sales

7. Intellectual Property

When you purchase a Spec, you receive a personal, non-exclusive license to use it to build one or more applications for personal or commercial use. You may not:

  • Resell, redistribute, or re-upload the Spec to any marketplace or platform
  • Share your download link with others
  • Claim authorship of the Spec

Ownership of the Spec remains with the Creator. Ownership of any application you build using the Spec belongs to you.

8. Payments

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. By making a purchase, you agree to Stripe's terms of service. specsy does not store your payment card details.

Prices are displayed in USD. You are responsible for any currency conversion fees charged by your bank or card issuer.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, specsy and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform or any Spec, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of data or damage to your system
  • Loss of profits or business opportunities
  • The cost of substitute goods or services
  • Any outcome of running AI-generated code on your machine

Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific Spec giving rise to the claim.

10. Prohibited Use

You agree not to use specsy to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Upload or distribute malware, viruses, or harmful code
  • Scrape, copy, or reproduce Platform content without permission
  • Attempt to circumvent payment or access Specs without purchase
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of California.
